Recently, I decided to play around some more with digital modes while mobile, using my Signalink USB device to connect either laptops or cell phones and tablets to my HTX-212 2m transceiver. It is an old radio, so I had to dig around for a manual online to find the pin out for the microphone. Here is the diagram if you need it:
To make this work, I wanted to use a regular Ethernet cable between the Signalink USB output and the HTX-212 microphone input. It was pretty straight forward, but the connections inside the Signalink USB went like this on JP1:
MIC -> 5
PTT -> 6
GND -> 2
And that’s it, of course the speaker out jack on the HTX-212 accepts a 3.5mm audio cable, which connects to the back of the Signalink USB “Speaker” connection. With those plugged in, I was able to hook up my cell phone with WoAD and do some Winlink in a few seconds! To God be the glory! You may want to solder the connectors if this will be permanent, or you can put electrical tape over the pins like I did, since I use the Signalink USB for different radios all the time. Perhaps later I could make a little breadboard with the proper wires and pins soldered on it.
Linux – keep it simple.
